KEY ASPECTS OF NAVIGATION - FRC-B 1 FRC FRC = Functional Road Class Creates a hierarchy for roads and ferries Based on importance in the total road network Captured for all roads #2 www.rmsi.com FRC Classification Database representation of classification of roads and ferries FRC-A • based on importance that the constituting roads and ferries have in the total network FRC-B • based on the role of roads in a local/regional street network #3 www.rmsi.com FRC-B Subdivision www.rmsi.com #4 FRC-B Capturing Rules Capturing Rules -To be captured for each captured Road Element and each captured Ferry Connection -Has to be independent of restrictions as pedestrian malls, not public accessible, residents only, addressable footpath. -Highest Functional Road Class-B is related to the administrative class Motorway. - Each class has to form a Closed graph if possible. #5 www.rmsi.com FRC-B of Connectors A Road Element representing a connector which only connects both lanes of a multi carriageway shall get the same Functional Road Class-B value as the multi carriageway. A Road Element representing a connector which connects also other roads shall get the same Functional Road Class-B value as the connecting road with the highest Functional Road Class-B value. A Road Element representing a connector connected to a path way, stairs or a pedestrian tunnel or bridge and which can be used to make U-turns on the multi carriageway, shall get the same Functional Road Class-B value as the multi carriageway. Legend www.rmsi.com #6 FRC-B of Connectors For U turn In case the connector is mainly designed to perform a U-turn, meant to ensure connectivity between two intersecting roads, the connector shall get the road class of the Dual Carriageway, even when connector is ensuring connectivity with another intersecting road with a lower class. www.rmsi.com #7 FRC-B of Roads Elements with Form of Way Entrance to/Exit from a Car Park Road Elements with Form of Way Entrance to/Exit from a Car Park shall have the same FRC-B value as the road performing the access to the entrance to/exit from the parking facility. If different roads with different FRC-B values perform the access to the entrance to/exit from the parking facility, the Road Elements with Form of Way Entrance to/Exit from a Car Park shall have the same FRC-B value as the access road with the lowest FRC-B value. A rest area road of which an access and an exit is located at a motorway, shall always have FRC-B Main Road. www.rmsi.com #8 Questions www.rmsi.com
