Falling Angels SYLLABUS Go to tutorial Return to Dance HSC ONLINE A paradox is a seemingly contradictory statement that may nonetheless be true. A paradox is a situation in which something seems both true and false. In this tutorial you will consider whether the paradox of a “falling angel” provides clues to Kylian’s intent. Return to Dance HSC ONLINE Consider the notion of an angel. What is an angel? Consider the idea that an angel is falling. What does this mean? Write down your ideas. Return to Dance HSC ONLINE Look for evidence of “angels” in Falling Angels. If you take this literally, can you see any movements or motifs that suggest wings? Can you see any movements or motifs that suggest broken wings or falling? Write down examples. Return to Dance HSC ONLINE Consider the possibility that Jiri Kylian is using the idea of “falling angels” as an analogy. What might he be suggesting about women in his analogy?
