Banner 7 What’s New? What’s Changed? Objectives • Review set up instructions that may need to occur • Introduce Banner 7 changes 7/20/2015 New Address • After implementation you can access Banner 7 at: – http://banprod.creighton.edu • The old address will redirect for a short period of time • For instructions on changing your desktop Banner icon after January 2nd refer to the Setup Procedures guide at http://www2.creighton.edu/doit/bann er/bannerupgrade/bannerupgraded ocumentation/index.php 7/20/2015 New JInitiator • A new version of JInitiator is required, version 1.3.1.22 • For specific instructions refer to the Setup Procedures guide at http://www2.creighton.edu/doit/bann er/bannerupgrade/bannerupgraded ocumentation/index.php • If assistance is needed, please contact the Service Desk at 2801111, option 3 or your distributed tech 7/20/2015 New User Interface • One of the most significant changes is the look of Banner 7/20/2015 General Menu Changes • Go box is now Go To • My Links section added on the right allowing you quick access to certain functions 7/20/2015 General Menu Changes Important for Finance Users: • Check Banner Message link under My Links will display a green check mark next to it when you have a new or pending message – The pop-up alert for new messages is no longer displayed 7/20/2015 General Menu Changes • Banner Broadcast Messages section added – Will be used to communicate important information • Pressing F5 will activate the Direct Access Feature – Can navigate to a different form without leaving current form • Quick Flows can be launched directly from the Go To box 7/20/2015 General Menu Changes • Pressing the up or down arrows on the keyboard while in the Go To box – Allows you to scroll through 10 recently used forms during that session • Help Center Link found on the right • Accessing the Banner Bookshelf for Acrobat 7 users will require clicking I Agree on a confidentiality message each session 7/20/2015 Updated Toolbar • New icons have been added • Some icons have been removed • Most icons have new pictures • Some icons have been grouped differently • Smart toolbar does not redraw each time making the transition from form to form faster 7/20/2015 Toolbar Icons Save Execute Query Rollback Cancel Query Select View/Send Message Insert Record Print Remove Record Xtender Solutions Previous Record BXS-Add Document Next Record Broadcast Message Previous Block FGAC Security Next Block Online Help Enter Query Exit 7/20/2015 Screen Resolution • Screen resolution should be set to 1024 x 768 to eliminate scrolling – Right click on blank area of desktop – Select Properties – Click on Setting Tab – Drag arrow in Screen Resolution section until it is 1024 x 768 – Click OK 7/20/2015 Tabbed Forms • Several forms now have a tabbed interface – For list of forms affected, refer to the Banner 7 What’s New Documentation at http://www2.creighton.edu/doit/b anner/bannerupgrade/bannerupg radedocumentation/index.php 7/20/2015 Navigating Tabbed Forms • To navigate through the tabs: – Click on the tab – Click Next Block or Previous Block – Use <<CTRL+PAGE DOWN>> to move forward or <<CTRL+PAGE UP>> to move backward – Press F2 to display list of tab pages 7/20/2015 Form Changes • Search icon has changed • New calendar icon is available • Right click menu – Right clicking on a form in a blank area will display a menu – General and form specific options will be available 7/20/2015 Accessing Online Help • Click Online Help on the toolbar – Displays form specific help • Click Index to view an alphabetical listing of topics • Click Search to complete a keyword search 7/20/2015 For Additional Assistance • For problems installing the new JInitiator – Contact the Service Desk at 2801111, option 3 or your distributed tech • For all other problems or questions – Contact a Banner trainer at 2803688 7/20/2015
