Operate on a wide variety of communications platforms but mostly use radio networks. Built up of many separate components that perform a combined task. Interface easily to PLC and SCADA systems that require remote signals. Also perform data logging for trending functions at the User Interface. Easy to expand systems to incorporate additional stations and devices. Not limited to functions of the initial design and can be enhanced to perform a variety of tasks.
