Students earn a 0.5 credit for each class each semester. Additional graduation requirements are listed below. – minimum cumulative 2.0 grade point average (GPA) (Athletic/Activity eligibility also requires a 2.0 GPA) – minimum of 40 hours of Community Service – pass Reading, Writing, Math & Science sections of new Smarter Balance Testing (11th grade) Your Future (4 year College Considerations) Rigorous & Balanced schedule all 4 years! 4 Years Math and Science Fine art (UC = 1 year of same class) World Language (2-3 years minimum) ACT or SAT Reasoning/SAT subject tests NCAA – register with NCAA eligibility center College visits – use breaks to visit IB/AP courses will prepare you for the rigor of a college curriculum. Diploma Programme Requirements for the subjects one subject from each of the six groups at least three but not more than four taken at higher level (HL) others at standard level (SL) Are you ready for the IB Diploma? You definitely are if you are in these classes and doing well…. Group 1 Honors Soph. Comp. Group 2 Group 3 Group 4 Group 5 Spanish 2, AP World Chemistry Geometry or Physics Alg 2 or French 2 or History PreCalc Chinese 2 Can you earn an IB Diploma if your first language is not English? Yes!!! The IB Diploma Program is flexible – you take Higher Level exams in your strengths. Some students are capable of taking composition and literature courses in their native languages through selfstudy. English Options for 11th graders You now have these classes to choose from: IB/AP Language and Literature HL 1 IB Literature HL 1 / AP Language Junior English -- American Literature and Composition IB Gifted English 1 (Gifted only) WANIC See Mrs. Ball immediately to register if you are interested in a 2-period, year-long elective block class Classes available: Welding, Horticulture, Culinary Arts, Sports Medicine, Teaching Academy, Cisco Networking, Health Sciences, and many more! Running Start Attend the info meeting on March 5th Sign up for the COMPASS test at BC Attend a Running Start orientation meeting at BC Once you pass this test, let your counselor know and make an appointment to talk with them about your graduation plan. Please Choose Carefully Courses will be offered next year only if enough students register this Spring to fill a class. It is very important that you think carefully about your choices now so that the courses you want will be available next year. Once your schedule is built, changing your schedule will happen only under extenuating circumstances. Forms to Return Student Course Selection Form (Blue) School Nurse Health Information Form (White) Registration Due Dates Current 9th grade students will meet with the counselors the morning of March 4th and 5th in your English class. Current 10th grade students will meet with the counselors March 11th-12th in your Social Studies class. Current 11th grade students will meet with the counselors during the week of March 16-19. You will receive an appointment reminder from Ms. Bickerstaff (counseling secretary) the day before.
