打嗝不是病,但… 王玉祥  打嗝並無任何生理功能,祇是人體橫膈膜抽搐,不自主作吸氣動作時,舌咽骨突然將氣管入口關閉,因而產生 ‘呃’的聲音及頸部抽搐的動作.事實上打嗝與嗚咽很相似,所以 hiccups 又稱作 singultus ,取自拉丁字源 singult,意謂啜泣時屏住呼吸的動作. 男性較女性常打嗝,孩童較成年人易發生打嗝,但青少年較少,新生兒又更易有打嗝現象,甚至發現胎兒在母體內也常會打嗝.  打嗝好發率似乎與人種,地理環境及社會階層差異無關  打嗝分類  急性打嗝(acute hiccups):   持續性打嗝(persistent hiccups):   持續四十八小時以上頑固性打嗝(intractable hiccups):   不超過四十八小時超過一個月以上世界金氏記錄由一位美國人於1984年所創下,長達六十九年又九個月.
